This remake of Wes Craven’s 1972 original, this time directed by Dannis Iliadis, is a very well-made film, with a good script and good acting. On one level, then, very good, although far from original, derived as it is ultimately by Bergman’s Virgin Spring. But if you have any moral qualms about rape, sadism, cruelty and extreme violence as entertainment, then it’s impossible to admire this film.
